VINYASA FLOW I - The OUTER LAYERS
Once we’ve got the basics of our Sun Salutation Foundations A, B and C, we’re ready begin to incorporate them into a full sequence of asanas strung together by something called a VINYASAS. Vinyasas are s series of poses we do between other poses in order to create a meditative flow.
The Outer Layer level is where we begin to learn these “other poses” with the same correct body alignment and core engagement we learned in our Sun Salutation Foundations. We use the same idea of a progressive approach and in doing this we can allow the mind and body to come into agreement and balance as we develop strength, flexibility and increase our awareness in equal measure.
VINYASA FLOW II - The DEEPER LAYERS
The Deeper Layers level is all about repetition and meditation.
Think of progressive practice like peeling away the thin layers of an onion. With each layer removed, we get deeper into the onion and as we get deeper, the aroma and flavor becomes stronger and more potent until finally we come to the center, where we find the seed. We collect the core or the seed only to replant it and begin the process again.
1000 repetitions and you will only begin to understand everything you don’t yet understand about your self through your yoga practice. There’s never a final destination or ending, there’s only the experience that happens every time we get on the mat.
and we continue . . . . . . . . . . . . .
If you learn a lot of little things, one day you may end up knowing a big thing
